Who gets married outside on a -35 degree Canadian winter day? Well, Lyndsay and Will do! And that pretty much sums up this couple in one sentence. Forever following their hearts and going where the wild things go – their wedding radiated this adventurous spirit and the created a casual atmosphere that was eclectic, authentic, awe-inspiring and was simply just “Zee & Willy”.

Every detail was designed and handmade by the bride and groom with help from their (massive) family and friends. Each element was personalized in a way that made you feel like you were in a northern fairy-tale and made you want to head to the woods to live with the wolves. Being married on the Wolf Super Moon was a happy coincidence but one of the fitting details that lead to this day being absolute perfection in every way. Also they were married by the groom’s uncle who was in a fur hat and hockey jersey. OH CANADA!

Not even the -35 degree weather could chill the incredible atmosphere that these two created on their big day. 200 of their closest friends and family (yes, they come from HUGE families) watched as these guys shivered and shared their vows and first kiss as a married couple through clouds of woodsmoke and with the fresh white snow and an Ottawa Valley forest as a backdrop. Nothing has ever been more pure or perfect. Guests were immediately treated to shots of whiskey as the ceremony concluded and were ushered inside to begin an evening of music, food, and fun.
The bride and groom shared their first dance to The Mighty Oak’s “Great Northwest” performed live by Wedding Party and featuring the Groom’s mom and sister-in-law. This set the tone for the night as everyone took a moment to fully appreciate the love that filled the room between the newlyweds and from all of those that came to celebrate their union. The father-daughter dance was also performed live and tears were a-flowing!

Every piece of clothing and accessories was specially selected and held meaning – the Bride wore a fur jacket that was from the Northwest Territories, purchased by the Groom’s aunt in the 80s, gold nugget earrings and mukluks from Whitehorse, her necklace was custom made by her parents from several family heirloom jewels, a decadent cake and cupcakes made by the groom’s mother, bouquets hand-made by the Bride and her Bridesmaids, favours of coffee from Whitehorse, Yukon, Groom’s mitts were borrowed from his uncle and bought in the Northwest Territories… and so much more.

The wedding party almost stole the show in navy tweed suit jackets and burgundy gowns. Almost. But the guys DID rival the gals in hair-length and class and everyone was all-smiles to be able to celebrate at Lyndsay and Will’s sides on their big day. The groom’s sister and sister-in-law hosted the evening with elegance, beauty, and comedy.
To top off the evening, the Bride and Groom make their speech thanking all of their loved ones from a canoe, drinks in hand. Wishing all the best to the happy couple and let the adventure continue.
